Having a baby is one of the most exciting times in your life. Nothing is more rewarding than the privilege of caring for this new life and providing an environment in which both you and your child will thrive and develop. Choosing the pediatrician that can best care for your child is an important decision. At Timber Lane Pediatrics, we share your joy and enthusiasm and look forward to the opportunity in partnering with you on the exciting journey of raising a child.
Please call if you would like to arrange a prenatal "get acquainted" appointment to meet your baby's doctor and ask any questions you might have. We are also happy to answer any questions you might have by phone.
Beginnings: A Center for Childbirth and Parenting Education
is affiliated with Timber Lane Pediatrics and offers classes for expectant parents. Beginnings’ classes include: Preparation for Childbirth, Preparation for Breastfeeding, Infant Care, Pediatric CPR, Big Sister Big Brother Sibling Preparation, Refresher in Childbirth, and VBAC. Each course offers participants relevant, up-to-date information necessary in making informed decisions about pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Visit www.beginningschildbirth.com for more information.
When you arrive at the hospital to deliver your baby, let the hospital staff know that you have chosen Timber Lane Pediatrics as your child's pediatrician. The hospital will notify us of your baby's birth. While your baby is in the hospital, the UVM pediatric hospitalist team will see your baby. The hospital team will help you arrange your first visit at our office.
After your baby is discharged from the hospital, you will come to our office for a newborn visit. This visit typically occurs one or two days after you come home. At this visit, we will review your baby's birth history, examine your baby head to toe, and discuss feeding, jaundice and other newborn concerns. All babies have a well child check at 2 weeks of age. Some babies may need additional care between the newborn visit and the two week visit, particularly for breastfeeding and jaundice follow up. We will let you know how your baby is doing and when he or she needs to be seen next.
Timber Lane Pediatrics offers the care of certified lactation consultants for our breastfeeding mothers. Our nurse practitioners Rebecca Nagle, Courtney Walker, Kristen Bird, and Kari McKinley are happy to see you and your baby at any of our three offices. Our lactation consultants can help you and your baby breastfeed during a regularly scheduled baby visit or a separate lactation visit. Call us to learn more.
