Upon Arrival
When you arrive at the hospital to deliver your baby, let the hospital staff
know that you have chosen Timber Lane Pediatrics as your child's
pediatrician. The hospital will notify us of your baby's birth. While your
baby is in the hospital, the UVM pediatric hospitalist team will see your
baby. The hospital team will help you arrange your first visit at our
office.
Newborn Visits
After your baby is discharged from the hospital, you will come to our office
for a newborn visit. This visit typically occurs one or two days after you
come home. At this visit, we will review your baby's birth history, examine
your baby head to toe, and discuss feeding, jaundice and other newborn
concerns. All babies have a well child check at 2 weeks of age. Some babies
may need additional care between the newborn visit and the two week visit,
particularly for breastfeeding and jaundice follow up. We will let you know
how your baby is doing and when he or she needs to be seen next.
Lactation Care
Timber Lane Pediatrics offers the care of certified lactation consultants
for our breastfeeding mothers. Our nurse practitioners Courtney Walker, Kristen Bird, Kari McKinley and Leah Macaulay are happy to see you
and your baby at any of our three offices. Our lactation consultants
can help you and your baby breastfeed during a regularly scheduled baby
visit or a separate lactation visit. Call us to learn more.
